Today’s free game in the 15 Days of Free Games is Solitairica. You can find out if this card game is worth picking up right here!
This year for Christmas, Epic is doing 15 days of free games, with each title only being available for 24 hours. Here’s today’s offering as well as what I think about it!
Epic Games Store: 15 Days of Free Games – 29th December 2020
I like card games. I really like Solitaire (and similar games like Freecell). I also like rogue-like (ugh) dungeon crawlers. So every time I see one that combines both of those, I’m a happy man. Slay the Spire is still probably the best dungeon crawling card game around, but I’m always in the market for a new one. And by “new” I mean “new to EGS” since this came out in 2016 on Steam.
Solitairica takes a good old-fashioned turn-based card game and adds in procedurally generated enemies, items and magic. I haven’t played it, but it has an 84% positive rating on Steam, which is pretty damn high for a card game. It kind of looks a bit like Dicey Dungeons too, which is cute. My one question is why the developers chose to use Unreal Engine for a simple card game? Seems like tech overkill. But hey, you do you, guys. You do you 😀
