Epic Games Store: Free Games – 15th April 2021

Deponia: The Complete Journey

Deponia is a well-regarded point-and-click game from a developer with a good (and varied) gaming catalogue. I haven’t bothered with point-and-clicks for a long time (the usual reasons) but with pretty much 8/10 ratings across the board, it seems like it’s worth a look. The Complete Journey contains the first 3 games as well as hours of developer commentary. That alone could make this worth a click!

I could’ve sworn that Deponia had been free on EGS already, but I can’t find it.

Ken Follett’s The Pillars of the Earth

Another point-and-click, The Pillars of the Earth is another well-reviewed game – this time with a more interesting art style than your typical pixel art fare. It has some good-looking cut scenes and a 93% positive rating on Steam. That’s pretty good for a 4 year old game.

The First Tree

The First Tree is a walking sim, but I don’t use that as a derogatory term. As long as it has an interesting story to tell, I enjoy a relaxed narrative sometimes. But most importantly, the protagonist is a fox. Foxes are cool. It’s also a good looking game. Out of the three games on offer this week (why 3? I don’t know) this is probably the one I’m most interested in.
