Tales of the Neon Sea is free on the Epic Games Store from 1st April 2021! Before you pick it up, here’s what I think about it.

Tales of the Neon Sea

Okay, look, I’m going to be straight with you. I’m not normally a fan of point-and-click games. I used to love them back in the day, but I guess I played one too many that had a totally arbitrary puzzle solution or a mandatory pixel hunt to progress. Because after the Kings Quest games I kind of lost interest in the genre.

But Tales of the Neon Sea at least looks cool. The pixel art is awesome, with some really neat lighting effects. And it’s cyberpunk. Everyone loves cyberpunk, right? No, not that Cyberpunk. We don’t talk about that one. I mean the future dystopian, body-augmenting, people-and-machines-as-one cyberpunk. The cool one. And I’m okay with that too.

So maybe I should go back and play a more modern pint=and-click game. Maybe I’m screwing myself over by skipping the genre. But I already have so many games to play, do I really need to open up a whole other avenue? Probably not.
