Epic Games Store: Free Games – 10th December 2020

Pillars of Eternity: Definitive Edition

and

Tyranny: Gold Edition

This week is a Paradox Interactive and Obsidian Entertainment extravaganza! Both games have similar themes and are the same genre, so I thought I’d just combine them into one piece. I haven’t played either, so I don’t have any first hand experience – sorry. But I know some YouTubers who really loved them, if that helps.

But Obsidian knows what they’re doing. They made Fallout: New Vegas, the only Fallout game I’ve ever really gotten along with. And both games boast about actual world-changing decisions, which is always a cool feature that offers a ton of replayability. Not something I really have the time for these days (Isaac excluded), but definitely good to have if you’re a dedicated playing-every-day gamer. I’ll just keep them on my neverending “to-do” list!

They’re not new though. Pillars is from 2015 and Tyranny from 2016, so they’ve got a few years on the clock. That means if you’re looking for something fresh as an alternative to Cyberpunk 2077, they might not be the place to look.
