The Textorcist is free on the Epic Games Store from 12th November 2020 until the 19th! Before you pick it up, here’s what I think about it.
Here are the games currently free of charge on the Epic Games Store. These are typically only around for a week, so if you see anything you like the look of you’d better move fast before they disappear!
Epic Games Store: Free Games – 12th November 2020
On paper, The Textorcist shouldn’t work. A bullet hell shooter that’s also a typing game? Absolute madness. Don’t you need both hands for typing? Don’t you also need a hand to move your character? Yes you do. And that’s the whole point. Unlike games like The Typing of the Dead, where you only need to choose the order to type your phrases, The Textorcist gives you only one thing to type at a time but dumps you into rooms where you also have to dodge bullets.
Now I’ll admit I haven’t played it, but I looked up a couple of videos and it looks intense. I bet there’s some serious one-handed typists out there who could absolutely nail this one.
No 2nd Game this week
Once again I was expecting a little bit more from EGS this week, but maybe I should stop it. After all, there’s only so many times per year they can offer up some absolute bangers. And I guess right now they could be waiting for Christmas, or even just Black Friday. I don’t know if Black Friday is the kind of event that would make them want to give something big away, but it could draw people onto the platform and from there you can push you low prices at them. Maybe. I dunno, I’m not in marketing.
