I was lucky enough to be asked to commentate part of the Esports Cup of Nations this year. It was great fun and you can see how it went here!
The inaugural Esports Cup of Nations (ECON) kicked off on Saturday, September 5th 2020 and I was lucky enough to be asked to take part! The five games on the sheet were League of Legends, CSGO, FIFA, Rocket League and Rainbow 6 Siege – some I’m familiar with and some that I know nothing about. I was already interested, but then I found out that it was Scotland v Wales! With national pride at stake – and the chance to watch professional esports players doing what they do best – I jumped at the chance!
They wanted me to cover the FIFA section, which is thankfully a game I know pretty well. Along with fellow caster MilkyCereal, we took to the pitch…

I’ll have a highlight reel here when they send me the footage!
I had a great time taking part, and it was exactly the pick-up I needed after a stressful few days. The event itself seemed to go without any real issues and looked from the outside to be a success. I wonder if more details will come through later, but even with one person suffering from connection issues (something out of everyone’s control) I think Esports Wales should feel really happy with what they pulled off. I hope we can work together again in the future!
