E3 2018 is almost over and we’re all still working out how we feel about the latest gaming announcements. Here’s my favourite news from the show.
I’ve been waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 for years now, so this was always going to be the game I was most interested in. I was hoping for gameplay footage, but the E3 2018 trailer itself was good. I thought it would just be The Witcher in the future, but it looks like it’s much more fast-paced. So I’m excited!
Forza Horizon 4
I was really into the Forza Motorsport games back in the day, but never really cared about the Horizon games – until now. It probably helps that Scotland will be in it (yay!), but the weather effects definitely make it more appealing. Weather was always one of my favourite things about Driveclub on the PS4. The Horizon games have always been pretty well-regarded and they’re available on PC now, so it should be a good time!
2016’s Doom reboot was awesome. I came to it late and was already aware of the stellar reviews, but I went in with my usual skeptical hat on and was pleasantly surprised. I haven’t finished it yet, so no spoilers please! I wasn’t expecting a sequel either. If they can recreate the same visceral feeling I’ll be a happy man!
I got Metro 2033 a long time ago. Unfortunately, at the time my PC wasn’t good enough to run it well. I should probably go back. But it was amazingly atmospheric and reminded me a lot of STALKER, another game I loved. Exodus looks like another computer-busting experience and I can’t wait to see how it turns out. But I really should go back and play 2033 again.
Command & Conquer
I was never really that into the C&C games back in the day, so I’m not particularly invested in the franchise, but I know a lot of people who are. Every single one of them is really disappointed that E3 2018 has EA bringing back the franchise only to turn it into a Clash Royale rip-off.
I have no idea who this guy is, and it looked like the audience didn’t either. Feelsbadman
So far the Bethesda conference highlight is the camera cutting between Andrew WK flailing around on stage and an audience that is barely humoring him pic.twitter.com/uZDezfnwyu

We got no actual information on Starfield at E3 2018. Yes, it’s the first new IP from Bethesda in 25 years, but what is it? I’m assuming Skyrim in space, but some actual facts would’ve been nice.
We didn’t get much on Halo Infinite either. It sounds like they might be going after Destiny with this one (judging by the name alone), but that’s all I can think right now.
We did get a few details about Fallout 76, but not enough to really give us much more info. Bethesda confirmed it’s online and has survival elements though, which I know is already turning a few people off.
I don’t have any problem with Battlefield V having a battle royale mode, although I know a few people who do. My only problem is that they’re going back to World War 2, and I’ve had enough of that war in games. We know how it ends. We’ve already played hundreds of variations and the war only lasted 6 years!
If I was going to rate E3 2018, I’d probably go 6/10. Some good stuff and a lot of filler. Some of this might impress later on, but we’ll need to wait to find out. Too many logos with no details, not enough actual gameplay footage.
